Zurich charity insurance scheme 'removes barriers to success'

The new Zurich charity insurance scheme should give community groups a helping hand, according to a protection expert at the company.

Paul Emery, head of charities and social organisations at the firm, noted that his team are eager to support the sector and back the government's plans to encourage volunteering.

He said: "A lack of accessibility and affordability means that many community and voluntary groups are uninsured, meaning that many important community projects are hindered."

As a result, Mr Emery explained that the Zurich charity insurance scheme is one way in which the business is innovating to make cover simpler for such initiatives.

The firm revealed the product - which has been developed alongside NAVCA and will be delivered by Tennyson Insurance - will be available for less than £10 a month.

Last month, the company attended the Airmic annual conference in Manchester, with a representative from the organisation presenting a workshop at the event.
