Shop around for goods, urges Santander banking

Santander banking has told consumers that they can save money on goods by shopping around to find the best deal.

Head of the firm's current accounts Helen Bierton made her comments after the company published research showing that 55 per cent of Brits are checking different retailers to find the cheapest groceries.

The Santander banking expert added: "The coalition government has warned of the impending 'age of austerity' for a while now, but most of the British population are already taking measures to cut down on their daily expenditure."

She stressed that this tactic is a great approach to saving money and encouraged people to use the same method when they choose which financial institution to keep their cash.

Ms Bierton highlighted how there may be better interest rates on offer at different providers.

This week, the firm revealed that its current account, mortgage and investment customers are able to sign up for its three per cent interest Loyalty Tracker Bond.
