Fixed rate bonds provider Legal & General launches iPhone app

Legal & General has announced the launch of a free application for the iPhone that turns the phone into a panic alarm.

Ruth Connor, head of consumer proposition at the firm's general insurance arm, stressed how important it is for consumers to feel safe wherever they are, whether it is out on the street or at home.

She described the iPhone Panic Alarm as the most convenient way to carry around this type of device, particularly since people are unlikely to forget to take it out with them because it is on their phone.

"We're trying to give people a little extra peace of mind when walking home at night by combining an easy-to-use panic alarm with a simple way of making a call for help," added Ms Connor.

Earlier this year, Legal & General unveiled an iPhone application for its Mortgage Club members, which allows brokers to search the market while they are on the move.
