Head of motor insurance at the company Will Thomas suggested that the easiest way of finding the cheapest deal on cover is to use a price comparison site, but he also offered a few more tips.
He claimed that driving a smaller car will cut the premium charged and building up a few years no-claims bonus will have a positive effect too.
Mr Thomas also recommended adding "security devices" and trying not to rack up excessive mileage.
However, he added: "The hard truth of the matter is that insurance prices are going up, but there are still things you can do to legally bring down the cost."
This week, Confused.com stated that price changes brought in by energy provider First Utility are the result of fluctuations in the wholesale market.
