AXA - Using retirement calculator can ease mental stress

Over-65s could benefit from using a retirement calculator to manage their finances, AXA has suggested.

According to the group, concerns about money are particularly common among this demographic.

Indeed, research has revealed that about three-quarters feel stressed about issues such as the cost of living.

Figures also showed that pensioners are not confident this situation will ease any time soon.

As a result, AXA has recommended that they draw up a plan of action to help them reduce their debts and ease their worries.

"While it's no surprise to find money worries are a concern for them, it is deeply worrying that it is affecting their health in such a way," said Eugene Farrell, head of psychological health and wellbeing at AXA.

This comes after the insurance provider warned that about one in four Britons do not do anything to address the cause of their financial problems.

The company described the proportion of people ignoring their money situation as "alarming".
