Females with car insurance for young drivers 'know how to maintain vehicles'

Women including those with car insurance for young drivers are becoming increasingly knowledgeable about the operations of their car.

According to research by Diamond, nearly two-fifths of female drivers know how to change their windscreen wipers and jumpstart a car.

Figures showed that almost three-quarters of women motorists are aware of how to check their car's oil and water levels.

Maria McCarthy, a motoring journalist, said this shows that lots of females do not depend on the man in their life to ensure their vehicle stays up and running.

"Women are savvier about cars and motoring than many men give them credit for," she commented.

The study also found that one in three women service their car every time they are about to set off on a long journey, while more than one in five do so every month.

This comes after car insurance provider Sheilas' Wheels stated that women drivers tend to be calmer and less distracted than males throughout the summer.
