Will Thomas, head of motor insurance at the comparison site, explained that it could be tempting for people to defraud a company in order to get their hands on "easy" money, but such actions will ultimately make cover pricier for everyone.
His comments were made after the Fraud Bureau revealed that incidents of 'crash for cash' have reached record levels.
Mr Thomas named Liverpool, Blackburn, Manchester and Leeds among the hotspots for this type of claim.
"Fraud, whether large-scale operations or simply embellishing personal injury for compensation, is not a victimless crime and it is unfortunately honest motorists that pay," he added.
Last week, Confused.com welcomed a decision by Asda to cut the price of petrol ahead of the August bank holiday weekend and urged other retailers to follow suit in order to help struggling families.
