Steve Williams, director of service quality and complaints at the company, made his comments after the group revealed that it was sent 245,000 criticisms by consumers during the first half of 2010, which is down by seven per cent compared to the same period of 2009.
However, he stressed that service quality remains a top priority as he aims to please every customer that deals with Santander.
"Whilst we are pleased that the volume of complaints received has decreased from the same time last year, we know we need to do more," said Mr Williams.
Recently, the firm published research showing that 81 per cent of consumers have embraced the age of austerity in some way by cutting back on their outgoings.
