Savings accounts provider Santander highlights travel costs

Santander has noted that taking a break from work to go travelling can end up being expensive and people should aim to cut costs where they can.

Director at Santander Cards Ian Coles pointed out that many Brits are deciding to see the world while the job market is so competitive and university places are in such demand.

However, he noted that a 'lifestyle break' can end up costing between £5,000 and £6,000, making it important to weigh up the benefits and expenses, as well as concentrating on saving cash where possible.

"The Santander Zero Credit Card is one of the only cards on the market to offer fee-free foreign usage anywhere in the world, helping travellers to cut out unnecessary costs," said Mr Coles.

Recently, the firm revealed it received 245,000 complaints in the first half of 2010, which is seven per cent fewer than during the same period of the previous year.
