Sainsbury's Bank life insurance has been recognised as the most competitive life assurance product on the market.

The most competitive life assurance provider 2005 award was presented by public relations company Citigate Dewe Rogerson. Sainsbury's Bank won the award after research from Moneyfacts.com showed that 66 per cent of its customers received savings of up to 27 per cent on their life insurance premiums.

Mike Smith, sales and development director of Legal & General who provide the banks life insurance, welcomed the award. He said that he was delighted for the bank and that there is a strong partnership between the two.

Business development director of Sainsbury's Bank, Jonathan Hewitt, said: "This award is great news for the bank and recognises the efforts and achievements of everyone that has worked so hard to provide our customers with an excellent product."
