Aviva pension calculator iPhone app 'allows people to take charge'

A pension calculator iPhone application has been launched by Aviva, with a source from the firm suggesting it could allow savers to take control of their retirement plans.

Iain Oliver, head of pensions and investments, made his remarks about the new Time to Act app, which can be used on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

He claimed it differs from other similar products by offering a variety of outcomes, which allow people to see how changes will affect their pension pots.

Mr Oliver noted that it can be used alongside the online Aviva Pension Tracker tool, which was released to simplify the retirement process for consumers.

"New technology can play an important role in retirement planning and Time to Act complements the work Aviva has done for existing customers with Pensions Tracker," he added.

This week, Unbiased.co.uk also unveiled an iPhone application, which individuals can use to find an independent financial adviser in their area.
