Halifax 'has improved cash Isa service'

A senior representative from Halifax has described how the firm has improved its Isa transfer operations.

Russell Galley, managing director of savings, claimed it is "vital" that the Isa switching process is enhanced across the board, as people often lose their tax advantage by moving their money to another provider.

"The cash Isa is a great, tax efficient way to save and is at the heart of many families' approach to building a nest-egg," he said.

Halifax recently made a Cash Isa Promise aimed at stopping savers from losing out as a result of the delay involved in transferring from one product to another.

Mr Galley noted that advancements like this should encourage people to feel more comfortable about moving their money around to get the best deal on offer.

Last week, the company announced the launch of a cash Isa offering a return of three per cent for Halifax current account customers.
