People need more than pension calculator, says Just Retirement

Just Retirement has suggested consumers need to be given more support in planning their savings strategies for when they finish work.

Nigel Barlow, head of research at the organisation, cited research by the company showing that one-third of respondents to a survey said they would like to be told more about the benefits they should receive as a pensioner.

"The route through benefits and tax can be difficult to navigate and many pensioners are actually missing out on something to which they are entitled," he said.

Mr Barlow noted that financial issues on retirement can be "varied and complex" and pointed out that it is no surprise people want to be better informed.

He also highlighted Just Retirement research showing that 24 per cent of annuitants had not claimed state benefits last year.

This week, the company announced that it has carried out a survey regarding customer satisfaction and found 37 per cent of clients give the firm ten out of ten marks overall.
