Santander fixed rate bond 'offers security'

Consumers who want security from their savings products may wish to consider a new fixed rate bond from Santander, a spokesperson for the institution has stated.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, director of savings and investments at the firm, made his comments after the organisation unveiled a new range of financial propositions of this type.

"We're pleased to introduce our latest range of competitive fixed rate bonds for those savers looking for the security that a fixed rate saving product offers," he said.

The returns offered by the new arrangements are tiered, with a 15-month deal securing customers 2.75 per cent and three per cent interest for balances of greater than £1 and £10,000 respectively.

Meanwhile, a two-year commitment sees the same tier values offer clients interest rates of 3.2 per cent and 3.5 per cent.

Last month, Santander published research showing that about one-third of consumers believe the base rate is likely to increase by between 0.5 and one per cent during the next 12 months.
