Manage your finances online, don't eat your children says first direct banking

Using the internet to manage personal finances and purchase products such as insurance can save consumers valuable time according to first direct banking.

Research has revealed that 61 per cent of UK adults use the internet and 14 million bank online. Increasing access to 24 hour banking services is helping them to bank whenever they want rather than squeezing branch visits into lunch breaks, or before work.

In addition to the easy access online bankers spend an average of nine minutes a week dealing with their finances compared to the national average of 47 minutes.

First directs chief executive, Richard Kimber, said: "Short of combining some disparate activities - like sleeping at work or eating your children - the way to manufacture time is to shorten unnecessary time-wasting activities.

"In essence, it's not so much about us being available around the clock, it's more about removing any barriers between us and our customers, including the barrier of time."
