Legal & General offers pension calculator tip to high earners

High earners may need to consider other savings options as a result of new regulations on tax relief, according to an expert from Legal & General.

Adrian Boulding, pensions strategy director, suggested people on high salaries may end up paying the full rate of tax on their retirement provision if they concentrate their capital in such pension products.

In his opinion, some individuals may benefit from spreading out their money across other types of agreements, such as maximum investment plans and Isas.

Mr Boulding described the new rules on pension tax relief as "good news" for savers and lauded the "simpler system", which he predicted will encourage people on different wage levels to put aside money for their future.

After the government announcement was made regarding the new rules, financial secretary to the Treasury Mark Hoban MP stressed that the changes were made with the aim of not affecting workers on "low and moderate incomes".
