Cheshire Building Society savings accounts 'offer a safe home for cash'

A new savings account from Cheshire Building Society combines a competitive return with easy access, according to a source from the company.

Darren Bailey, head of product management at the firm, described how people want to know they can access their money, as well as ensuring they are receiving a good growth rate on their capital.

"In uncertain economic times people want a safe home for their savings that pays them a good rate of return and actually encourages them to save," he said.

In his opinion, the new Cheshire Building Society 30 Day Postal Saver Account offers just that, with an interest rate of 2.6 per cent for customers who keep their balance above £1,000 for the first year of their investment.

Mr Bailey pointed out that there is a degree of flexibility about the product, since people are allowed four withdrawals each year that will not impact their interest rate.

Meanwhile, Nationwide has advised consumers that it has changed the bonus expiry date on its Champion Saver proposition to January 31st 2012 for all new accounts.
