Watch out for terms on savings accounts, says moneysupermarket.com

People should be sure that they read the terms and conditions of their savings accounts, a spokesperson for moneysupermarket.com has recommended.

Kevin Mountford, head of banking at the price comparison site, claimed several great products have been launched in the easy-access category of the savings market.

However, he urged people to check how many withdrawals they are allowed to make before they sign up for an account.

Mr Mountford also pointed out that easy-access products can be variable, so it is vital that people "remain vigilant" if they are going to get the best possible return from their cash.

But he stressed that such accounts can be great, saying: "Savers can dip in and out of their money whenever they want and this flexibility will suit many people."

This week, moneysupermarket.com advised consumers to check other current account providers to see if they can get an improved in-credit interest rate on their cash.
