Laterlife rep suggests more people want pensions calculator courses

An increasing number of older individuals are showing an interest in learning about how their decisions will affect their pensions calculator, according to a Laterlife spokesperson.

Dave Sinclair, training director at the organisation, claimed that most employees over 50 years old will expect their companies to offer some sort of education programme to help them make decisions relating to their retirement.

In his opinion, the changes being made to the default pension age will also spur on interest in initiatives that look into the issues surrounding the end of a person's working life.

"We are expecting them to send people on retirement courses, helping them to think more clearly about whether they do want to retire or not," said Mr Sinclair.

Last month, the Department of Work and Pensions published a report, claiming that individuals approaching retirement should be sent factual messages relating specifically to their pension situation.

It also indicated that communication with workers should become more frequent as they approach retirement.
