Sainsburys Insurance urges people not to cut back on cover

Consumers should not cut back on the cover they take out on their homes, despite the difficult economic climate, according to an expert from Sainsburys Insurance.

Head of home insurance at the company Ben Tyte pointed out that people spend a significant amount of money running and furnishing their houses.

In his opinion, individuals may be putting their investment at risk by not insuring their property.

He made his comments after Sainsburys Insurance published research showing the estimated cost of running a home has fallen by nearly 14 per cent over the past two years.

"Hopefully the reduction in the cost of running a home means that fewer people now feel the need to cut back on something as essential as home insurance," added Mr Tyte.

This month, Sainsburys Finance highlighted how it has been nominated for two accolades at the 2011 Moneyfacts Awards - best credit card provider and best pet insurance provider.
