CCCS retirement calculator guide 'helps with financial decisions'

The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) has launched a new guide to help people with the choices that must be made in relation to pensions.

Tim Blessed, managing counsellor at the organisation, pointed out that many of the decisions people carry out at the end of their working lives will impact them for a long time.

He suggested individuals could use the CCCS's Approaching Retirement? publication to help themselves be prepared to take such far-reaching choices.

Mr Blessed said: "There are a lot of important financial decisions to make when you are coming up to retirement or have recently retired."

The CCCS revealed that its clients over 55 tend to have higher debt levels but significantly lower income than their younger counterparts, making pension decisions all the more vital.

Individuals struggling with debt may also wish to use the organisation's Debt Remedy online service, which screens people for signs of depression relating to their money problems.
