Yorkshire Building Society lauds fixed rate mortgage sales

Chris Smith, group direct mortgage manager, observed that over 50 per cent of home finance deals secured across the whole market were for standard variable rate arrangements.
He contrasted this with figures from Yorkshire Building Society, where more than 80 per cent of mortgages sold were fixed rate products.
In his view, the firm has helped its customers by securing a constant rate for their mortgage payments.
Mr Smith made his comments after the organisation announced it received more than 1,500 best-buy mentions during the past 12 months.
"We are proud of the products we have had on offer this year and it is good to have some recognition from within the financial sector through the best buy tables," he remarked.
Yorkshire Building Society also received the prize for best youth savings account at the Moneywise Children's Savings Awards for its Freedom product.
