Avoid adding regulation for buy to let mortgage holders, says LandlordZONE

A source from LandlordZONE has suggested there should not be additional regulation introduced for buy to let mortgage holders.

Tom Entwistle, director of the online community, said he is not in favour of additional red tape, because there are already plenty of rules in place.

In his view, the private rented sector is already covered by more regulations and legislation than almost any other activity in the country.

"We are in favour of improving the professionalism of landlords and cutting out the bad guys, but we are not in favour of making the good ones jump through ... hoops," said Mr Entwistle.

He claimed good landlords and agents tend to voluntarily belong to associations and local schemes.

These remarks were made after the Property Ombudsman revealed the number of complaints made against estate agents increased by six per cent in 2010.

Mr Entwistle stated that the 1,338 cases recorded is not excessive given the size of the private rented sector.
