Co-operative Bank and Britannia reduce mortgage rates

Mortgage providers the Co-operative Bank and Britannia have announced the launch of a new two year fixed rate deal for prospective homeowners.

The two companies have also reported a reduction to the rates of a number of other products in their mortgage range.

In a bid to provide a boost for first-time buyers and existing homeowners, the new two year deal is available at 75 per cent and 85 per cent loan to value.

Mortgage rates have been cut across the two companies' three and five year fixed rate deals.

An extension in the fixed end dates of products has also been introduced to benefit customers.

Head of mortgages at the Co-operative Bank James Hillon acknowledged the fixed rates aligned across the two companies, which "also means that borrowers have even more access to our market-leading rates which are available in more than 300 branches, online and on the telephone".

Co-operative Finance recently warned parents that the social networking habits of their children could increase the chance of burglaries while they are on holiday.
