Legal & General is to expand its offering of investments, launching another in its series of capital protected stockmarket-linked investment plans.

The Accelerated Growth Investment Plan 2 offers investors 130 per cent of any capital growth in the FTSE 100 Index plus capital protection at the end of the fixed six-year term.

Investors in Accelerated Growth Investment Plan 2 receive ordinary shares in the Accelerated Growth II sub-fund of Legal & General Protected Investments.

The minimum direct share investment is £500, while the maximum investment is £7,000 for Maxi ISAs and £4,000 for Mini stocks and shares ISAs for the current tax year.

Money Extra points out that capital, although protected at maturity, is not guaranteed: it is invested with reputable financial institutions but in the event of a payment default money may be lost.

Furthermore, investors who cash in their investment before the full six-year term may get less than the original amount back, so are recommended to hold the investment until that time to benefit from the returns.

The Accelerated Growth Investment Plan 2 will be on offer for seven weeks from May 16th.
