Aviva reports clients' changing perceptions to pensions calculator

Increasing numbers of concerned individuals are choosing to seek financial advice from professional sources, a study has suggested.

According to insurance company Aviva, 61 per cent of clients are now more likely to seek guidance to make plans for their retirement years than before the global economic turndown.

The provider also revealed that higher numbers of people have been depending on help from advisers during the financial crisis, with 22 per cent of respondents confirming they felt greater levels of trust for the professionals.

Following government proposals to further increase the retirement age, 70 per cent of individuals revealed they were worried about how to provide funding for their later life.

Clive Bolton, 'at retirement' director at Aviva, said: "The turmoil has left many clients feeling anxious about the future and a greater number are now expecting to have to work beyond the standard retirement age."

Recent research from the company revealed that the majority of employers find it difficult to provide support for members of staff who are off sick for long periods of time.
