Scottish Widows offers pensions guidance to charities

Charity workers struggling to find a solution to their financial problems amid the pensions reforms could benefit from assistance from Scottish Widows.

The investment company has announced plans to join forces with the National Council for Voluntary Organisations in a bid to provide guidance to the 280,000-strong workforce.

In addition, the move is set to offer assistance to the 8,400 UK charities in a bid to save money on fines due to their failure to adhere to new regulations.

As part of the plans, employees will receive advice on how to prepare for their futures and auto-enrolment, and to ensure they meet pension reform obligations.

Pete Glancy, the company's head of corporate pensions, said: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to help the charities sector and we will do absolutely everything we can to reduce the size of the challenge which pensions reform presents."

Earlier this month, Scottish Widows announced the launch of new tools on its savings website mymoneyworks in a bid to help people understand their personal finances.
