More homeowners seeking independent mortgage advice, claims Kensington

Rising numbers of mortgage borrowers are seeking professional independent advice for the first time, according to Kensington.

New research from the mortgage intermediary has suggested that with more products like fixed-term mortgages entering the market along with regular changes to existing products, customers prefer to seek independent guidance in order to stay informed.

The survey questioned 617 intermediaries and found nearly one in five saying over half of their clients in the past three months were talking for the first time to a mortgages advisor.

"This shows that more borrowers are recognising the benefits of professional advice," said head of sales at Kensington Charles Morley.

He added: "There is clearly a previously untapped appetite for mortgage advice out there and this could fuel business growth."

Kensington's research comes as Coventry Intermediaries today (Thursday 25th) launched a series of new fixed-rate mortgages including a four-year fixed-rate loan with a comparatively high LTV rate of 85 per cent.
