Which? launches crash course in personal finance

Consumer watchdog Which? has launched a crash course on personal finance in the form of a new book: Be your own Financial Adviser.

The move comes after research showed that a quarter of adults within the UK feel they are not up to the challenge of managing their money.

The author of the self-help guide, Jonquil Lowe, said that while financial education in schools was a good thing, educating adults was "much harder".

"Too many are financially illiterate and need to start planning properly for the future," she explained.

"They must educate themselves quickly, or run the risk of throwing money away by making the wrong financial decisions."

Be your own Financial Adviser aims to explain the issues, risks and opportunities arising from managing one's own money. It also shows how to identify and target financial goals while avoiding the pitfalls of unsuitable products, high charges and hidden risks.
