Nationwide fixed rate and tracker mortgages launched

As of October 3rd, Nationwide fixed rate and tracker mortgages will be available and the products will complement existing products.

The two year fixed rate mortgage has a rate of 4.47 per cent while the two year tracker mortgage offers customers a rate of 4.29 per cent.

A reservation fee of £1,499 is needed to secure both the Nationwide fixed rate and tracker rate mortgages and this can either be added to the loan or paid in a lump sum up front.

Divisional director at Nationwide Steve Clode explained: “We've launched these two new products in response to feedback from borrowers that they would like the option to take a lower rate with a higher fee. "

Mr Clode added that the existing mortgage range was still available to "those customers who prefer to pay no fee, or lower fees, with slightly higher rates".

A key difference between the mortgages is that a fixed rate remains the same whereas a tracker can fluctuate depending on the Bank of England base rate.
