Halifax insurance packages provide 'security'

British consumers are chancing their arm by not taking out an insurance policy when they travel abroad, Halifax Travel Insurance claims.

According to the group, just 13 per cent of travellers make a trip overseas while taking out the necessary cover, with young people between the age of 16 and 24 being the most remiss.

With short breaks now comprising almost a fifth (17 per cent) of the entire overseas holiday market, the prevailing feeling is that many people who take such breaks do not need to be insured.

Halifax insurance packages can be accessed in three forms, including single trip, annual multi-trip and world explorer annual options.

Those people purchasing a Halifax insurance package online will receive a ten per cent discount.

Halifax Travel Insurance underwriting manager Paul Birkhead said: "The main benefit of annual cover is that you only need to take out your policy once a year to be insured for as many trips as you like, within a 12-month period, both within the UK and abroad.

"Many people are also unaware that annual cover will also include trips in the UK, so long as they are in pre-booked accommodation for at least three days," he added.
