Sheila's Wheels: Make your home safe for exercise

A recent poll has discovered that 20 per cent of women have had an accident at home related to their fitness regimes and 13 million now have access to interactive computer consoles.

As a result, Sheila's Wheels, which conducted the survey, has outlined some ways in which the home can be made safer before exercising.

Therefore, according to the organisation, those who are about to pull on their sweat bands and warm up should first make sure the space they are using is clear from obstructions.

For people who are using consoles to work out, standing at a safe distance from the TV is a must, as clashing with the screen could be both a painful and costly business.

Jacky Brown from Sheila's Wheels Home Insurance commented: "Our research shows that more and more women are […] increasingly keen to exercise at home to save time and money. However, it's essential that women prepare their at-home keep fit area thoroughly beforehand."

A website, wiidamage.com, has been set up to document some of the accidents which have occured in the home among people who own the console.
