LV= says budgeting and planning can help avoid requirement of debt relief

People can avoid needing debt relief services by undertaking adequate planning in the short term and long term, according to a source from LV=.

Head of protection at the company Mark Jones pointed out that even a slight drop in consumers' finances at this time of year can be disastrous, making it all the more important to have a sensible budget.

Mr Jones made his comments after research by LV= found that parents in the UK intend to spend an average of £168 on each child this Christmas.

"Kids clearly come first despite the economic downturn as over half of parents are still intent on spending the same, or more, on their children as they did last year," he added.

Last week, head of pensions at LV Ray Chinn applauded the government for its plans to increase early access to pensions.

He suggested this is likely to encourage more people to save in this way.
