BPP launches specialist loan for law students

Education and training provider BPP has teamed up with Investec to introduce a new loan product for its law students.

The company will offer a maximum of £25,000 to students who secure a place on BPP's Graduate Diploma in Law, Legal Practice Course or Bar Professional Training Course.

As well as a five-year fixed interest rate of 9.5 per cent, the product comes with a repayment holiday of 18 months from the start date of the loan.

Peter Crisp, chief executive and dean of the BPP Law School, said the announcement will be "welcome news to students".

According to BPP, the offer was inspired by feedback from students, who named funding concerns as the main obstacle for those studying law.

Roy Beddows of Investec Bank added: "The Law Loan has been designed to address the key funding requirements facing many law students and combines a competitive rate with a high degree of flexibility."

BPP, which has had the power to award its own degrees since 2007, was granted university college status by the government in July last year.
