MINT Loans: British women revving up their motoring interest

The typical view that men are more interested in cars and motoring than women is soon to be an outdated one, according to MINT Loans.

One woman out of every ten that took up a MINT Loan did so particularly to buy a car, the company's research says, and the financial attention that women pay to their cars does not stop at simply buying them.

Some ten per cent of women spend money on additional modifications to their motor vehicle, while many even make certain sacrifices to facilitate further spending on their car, MINT states.

Almost one in five women make an effort to spend less on their social life or forgo a holiday and almost one in ten prefer to focus funds on their car rather than buying new clothes.

MINT Loans attributes this female passion for all things motoring to a number of factors, such as television programmes like Top Gear and coverage of Grand Prix races and also female celebrities such as Jodie Kidd making driving seem more fashionable.

Jerry Toher, managing director of MINT, said: "Our research clearly shows that today's woman is taking a keen interest in cars and taking every opportunity to get behind the wheel.

"As we all know, cars can be a costly business. Taking out a loan is often a sensible way to finance such a purchase because it allows you to spread the cost over a longer period of time through affordable, regular payments."

MINT Loans offers a typical annual interest rate of 6.2 per cent for loans between £10,000 and £25,000 for existing customers and allow a repayment period of up to seven years.

New customers will be offered a typical rate of 7.9 per cent for amounts ranging from £2,000 to £25,000.
