Abbey credit card advice for football fans

Abbey has advised football fans planning to travel to Moscow for the Champions League final that they could end up paying more for a football affiliated credit card.

It has found that the average foreign exchange fee on such a card is 2.75 per cent, while some go as high three per cent. In addition, the foreign exchange fee for all credit cards in 2.69 per cent.

The bank notes that its credit card is the only one to offer no fees for balance transfer, foreign exchange and cash advances.

In addition, it also has an introductory six-month interest-free period on balance transfers and purchases.

Roger Lovering, managing director of Abbey Credit Cards, commented: "A credit card that affiliates with a football club may be a ‘nice to have' but is not likely to benefit you as much financially than other cards available at the moment."

Research released by Abbey Credit Cards last week revealed that parents heading off abroad with their children this half term could be hit with premiums of up to 80 per cent.
