Barclaycard contactless payments unveiled

Barclaycard showed off its new contactless payment card at a charity event in London and hailed its potential in the future.

Stewart Roberts, business development director of payment acceptance at the organisation, claimed that the company is constantly looking at innovations to make payment devices easier.

He pointed out that this contactless technology was quick and easy to use and worked particularly well for donations to charity, because people do not have to fumble around in their pockets for change.

"This is a further example of how contactless technology can be used in the future, to enable people to make charitable donations via their contactless payment cards in a quick and easy manner," he added.

The charity event where the cards were showcased was held at the OXO Tower in London on September 13th.

Last week, Barclaycard launched a pre-application service that allows people to check if they will be eligible for a credit card without it having a negative effect on their credit rating.
