Will Thomas, head of motor insurance at the firm, pointed out that speeding endangers the lives of others, but the negative consequences do not stop there.
He noted the price of a car insurance premium can be significantly higher if a driver has been caught travelling over the speed limit.
"While it may be tempting to put your foot down when you're in a rush, it is important to think of the implications of going over the limit," remarked Mr Thomas.
The Confused.com spokesperson made his comments after research by the firm showed points on a licence can increase the cost of motor cover by up to 27 per cent.
Last week, the website reported seeing a 53 per cent surge in the number of people using its service following the broadcast of a BBC One Watchdog programme on car insurance.
