HSBC helps first-time buyers

First-time buyers are getting a helping hand from HSBC which has launched an online centre offering advice about the process of buying a home and other related services.

The new website will be known as the Property Panel and will offer independent and free expertise from professional advisers including estate agents, solicitors and surveyors. Everything from working out a budget to the actual move is covered in a step-by-step guide.

Carina Kemp, head of mortgages at HSBC, said: "Buying a home is one of the most important decisions that any of us make, it should be rewarding and enjoyable but all too often it’s a minefield. The choice and complexity of all the component parts of buying a property can be bewildering and first-time buyers often don’t know where to turn to get advice."

Property Panel's experts include Peter Bolton-King who can provide property market and negotiation advice, plus Ash Oberoi who can shed light on the legal side.

HSBC hopes the practical advice will save first-time buyers time, money and stress.
