In a new survey of what features would define a person's dream home, 15 per cent of respondents told the insurer that space for a kitchen table would be most desirable.
A large garden was the second most popular with 11 per cent of votes, while an en suite main bedroom and room for extension or development were both named by nine per cent each.
Commenting on the findings, Carina Norris, author of You Are What You Eat: The meal planner that will change your life, said that it could mark "the return of the good old British family mealtime".
"After the trend for homebuyers to opt for tiny kitchens, or even 'capsule kitchens' with just a microwave and no 'proper' oven, it's really encouraging to see the pendulum swinging back to large kitchens, with plenty of space for the family to eat together," she added.
Halifax Estate Agents recently revealed that 78 per cent of people in the UK would be willing to pay more for a property that has a garden.
