Confused.com: More people enquiring about travel insurance

According to Confused.com, rising numbers of Brits are making enquiries about travel insurance as the summer months approach.

The firm has registered an increase of 63 per cent increase in the number of people searching for travel insurance policies, compared to the same time last year.

Of these searches, 55 per cent were for single cover travel insurance, while the remaining 45 per cent of queries were for annual policies.

Head of travel insurance at Confused.com Steve Williams said that this surge could be due to the spread of swine flu.

He added: "It's clear is that consumers are becoming more aware of the benefits and peace of mind travel insurance can bring."

Last week, Vietnam reported its first case of swine flu, while numerous cases have already been confirmed in the US, the UK and Japan.
