Paragon Mortgages: Rental yields rise in north

Property values are rising in the north of the UK, Paragon Mortgages said today.

The past month has seen an increase in yield in the west Midlands, the north, Yorkshire and Greater London but an easing in other regions, the company's buy-to-let index shows.

Prices paid by northern landlords have risen to reach averages of £95,228.

John Heron, managing director of Paragon Mortgages, said: "Yields seem to have remained relatively stable in the past quarter. This is clearly good news for landlords with existing property investments."

East Anglia has also seen a steady rise in property values while smaller increases were registered for the east Midlands and the south-east.

Paragon Mortgages noted that total returns were mostly higher in the northern regions while the south of Britain continued to see a modest decline in property values.
