Britannia two-year fixed rate mortgage offered

A Britannia two-year fixed rate mortgage is on offer for the new year sales period.

The mortgage product comes with a 4.89 per cent fixed rate for the first two years before moving on to the building society's standard variable rate, which is currently 6.1 per cent.

Five-year and ten-year mortgage products are also part of the range on offer.

The Britannia two-year fixed rate mortgage comes with a £100 administration fee and a £399 arrangement fee, as do the other two products.

Variable rates can fall below the fixed rate, the building society said, adding that it is possible that alternative mortgage products could work out cheaper for the fixed period.

Britannia is the second largest building society in the UK with over two million members and nearly £5 billion of gross lending per year.
