The lender claims that this is one of the lowest existing personal loan rates on the market and Moneyfacts data shows that it is more competitive than rates offered by Nationwide, Lloyds, the Royal Bank of Scotland and Masterloan.
Amounts ranging from £1,000 to £25,000 are available through the product and repayments can be spread over a duration of one to ten years.
A loanprotect insurance cover option also comes with the Northern Rock Fixed-Rate Unsecured Personal Loan, which the lender claims can provide "complete peace of mind".
Northern Rock is also currently offering a 25 per cent discount on all products taken up with loanprotect cover online.
An 'express service' option is provided by Northern Rock, which is intended to make it possible for a customer's loan to be paid into their bank account the day that fully completed application documents are received.
