The group has identified how it is attempting to raise awareness of the benefits of covering cherished pets, citing diabetes among cats as one of the costliest conditions to deal with.
A spokesperson for Sainsbury's Bank also told how difficult it was to change provider, so that it was "essential that you make sure they cover those long-term illnesses".
They added: "The policy covers a whole variety of illnesses. For specific illnesses, you'd have to check the policy."
According to the Healthy Pets Insurance group, the market for pet insurance is growing at a significant rate.
Opened in 1997, Sainsbury's Bank offers a wide range of products, including insurance, credit cards, loans and savings.
