Recession depression hits the UK

Recession depression is affecting many people in the UK, according to research published by Lloyds TSB.

The bank conducted a poll which revealed that more than one in five Brits is suffering from recession depression and nearly one-fifth claim to have suffered sleepless nights worrying about their finances recently.

Lloyds TSB found that 24 per cent of people are worried about having less money in their pockets and more than one-third are scared by the prospect of mass unemployment.

Corinne Sweet, a Psychologist, said: "When times are bad and money is tight, people experience fear and anxiety, making them more conservative and less adventurous and expansive overall."

This can affect people's relationships, according to Ms Sweet, who is the author of Stop Fighting About Money: How money can make or break your relationships.

Recent research conducted by PayPal suggested that recession anxiety is a major cause of stress in relationships.
