Sainsbury's Pet Insurance offers 3 months of cover for nothing

Sainsbury's Finance has claimed that many people have decided to cut back on pet insurance over the last few years so they are offering three months of their pet insurance for free.

Lucy Hunter, Sainsbury's Pet Insurance manager, pointed out that research by the financial services provider shows that 450,000 people have stopped taking out a policy on their pet.

But, she claims this could be counterproductive because of the rise in vets fees in recent years, which is why the company has come up with the deal

"People have recently given up their pet insurance in order to save money, which could leave them exposed to potentially very high veterinary bills," she explained.

The insurance offered covers pets for up to £7,500 of veterinary treatment for each condition, plus £250 per year for any behavioural problems they might have.

Recent research by Petplan indicated that summer could be a dangerous time for pets, with nearly a quarter of pet owners saying their companion had been injured by their barbeque.
