Chelsea Building Society e-Saver introduced

Chelsea Building Society e-Saver Reward has marked the institution's move into offering online bank accounts.

The new account, which is available exclusively through the building society's website, offers an interest rate of 2.75 per cent a month and can be opened with a £1 deposit.

Any withdrawals can be made to another Chelsea account or to a different bank, but savers will lose the interest payment for that month. However, during April withdrawals can be made without any loss of interest.

Sarah Lawrence, senior product manager for savings, said: "The Chelsea e-Saver Reward account will be a real plus for anyone looking for a competitive rate who wants to combine monthly interest with easy to use internet savings."

Earlier in the year Chelsea Building Society announced that it had completed a merger with Yorkshire Building Society, although the two institutions will continue to be run separately and under their own names in their existing branches.
