High interest savings accounts not the only option, says unbiased.co.uk

A spokesperson from unbiased.co.uk has pointed out that consumers have all sorts of investment options that could help them increase their savings.

Karen Barrett, chief executive of the company, suggested the best idea is often to speak to a qualified professional, as the path to receiving a significant income from investment products can be "complex".

In her view, it can help to have a second opinion, particularly if it is a significant decision being made.

"With many options out there and an unpredictable economic environment it is confusing for consumers to know where and how best to invest their money," said Ms Barrett.

She pointed out that many customers ultimately want to be able to use their investments to build up an income.

Last week, unbiased.co.uk urged people to take advantage of the savings that can be made by not paying unnecessary capital gains tax charges, with the firm claiming £552 million was wasted in this way by Brits this year.
