Skipton Building Society savings accounts 'use goals'

People are being encouraged to think about what it is they want to put money aside for by Skipton Building Society.

There are 12 different products available in a new range of propositions from the company, with head of products at the organisation Kris Brewster claiming the method could help individuals to put away more cash.

He cited research by the firm showing that 31 per cent of the public find it easier to save if they have something in mind that they can build towards.

"We have decided to tackle the 'savings gap' from a different angle by encouraging people to save for specific things and focus on their final goals," said Mr Brewster.

The collection of products is called My Savings Range and some of the varieties include My Retirement Saver, My Bills Saver and My Wedding Saver.

Another savings proposition recently launched by the organisation is an 18-month bond, which offers a three per cent return on balances of £50,000 or more.
